Guidelines
for Choosing Community Projects/ Activitivies
Choose
ANY ONE or a COMBINATION
of Community based activity with the following guidelines in
mind:
1. The
activity should be personally meaningful to the student
and make a significant impact on the lives
of others.
2. The
activity must be with a non-profit organization or individual(s)
and must represent a “need” in the community.
3.
The work is volunteer; students may not
receive financial rewards or commodities in exchange for their activity.
What you CANNOT
use for CE 101 credit:
- Transferred
credits(college/high school).
- Community
Service that has been court ordered.
- Monetary
donations whether personal or through work.
- Activity
used to generate income for a “for profit” organization/business.
What
you CAN use
for CE 101 credit:
- All volunteer
military service (any military service after December, 1973 when
mandatory draft ended) from all branches-active, discharged, reservists,
& guard who have served “honorably.” Dishonorably discharged
military personnel will not be considered for CE 101 credit through
the “military option.”
- Existing
projects/activities, combinations of activities, group activities, your
own ideas (subject to approval by Feinstein Office).
- Activities
related to your technology/academics such as mentoring/tutoring.
- NEIT
club activities (if the activity addresses a college/community need).
Remember!
You represent NEIT!
As NEIT students, you have a responsibility to any organization or individual
you may
interact with in the community
enrichment process.
Whether
you are in class, or out participating as a volunteer in a community activity,
you should always act and dress in an appropriate manner.
Your presence
in the community is an important part of your college experience and should
be taken seriously.
Education
is the beginning pathway to solving social problems.
Personal
values, morals, and respect for diversity will be enhanced through community
involvement.
