What Community Activities are you already involved
with?
The following Community
Activities may be appropriate for Community Enrichment credit, if you already
have commitments to them:
- Volunteer firefighter/
EMT
- Coaching youth sports
(baseball, soccer, T-ball, hockey, football, etc.) Donate used sporting goods
to yard sales to benefit the league.
- Helping in your child’s
classroom (reading, computers, tutoring, chaperone)
- School activities (fairs,
dances, plays, field trips, fundraisers)
- Libraries (computer
assistance, reading)
- YMCA/YWCS, Boy/Girl Scouts
activities
- Lions, Elks, Rotary,
Masons, Shriners, etc. – service clubs
- SkillsUSA (sponsor competitions
for students in technical, skilled, and service occupations including health
occupations)
- VICA (Vocational Industrial
Clubs of America)
- Church activities (fundraisers,
religion classes, functions, donate goods to yard sale to benefit church)
- Various fundraising
events for charitable organizations
- Assisting a disabled,
elderly, or ill neighbor, friend, or relative with daily living tasks, home
maintenance, or yard work
- Tutoring another NEIT
student
- Being involved with a
neighborhood cleanup
- Babysitting for a friend
or neighbor without pay
- Charitable fundraisers
(Walk-a-Thons; road, bike, skate races, motorcycle events)
- All volunteer military
duty from all branches of armed forces
- Blood donations (donors
must be 17 or older; donations every 56 days)
- Ride share-bringing another
student to school on a regular basis
- Recycling/donation of
cell phones, toner cartridges, books, eye glasses
- Usher for NEIT graduation
- Computer assistance-
web pages, installation, tutoring, maintenance, upgrading
- Automotive/Auto Body
– various mechanical activities (oil changes , tires, electrical, engine
repair; body work, paint, SkillsUSA & VICA)
- Construction (repairs,
additions, porches, roof work, siding, SkillsUSA & VICA)
- Medical Tech—participated
in activity related to medical field on a volunteer basis (nursing homes,
hospital, hospice, elderly, SkillsUSA & VICA)
- RACH- assisted/repaired
air conditioning free of charge
- Plumbing/Heating—assisted/repaired
for friend, relative, neighbor
- Video/radio-participated
in activity using these skills for the benefit of an individual or group
